Nicholas - Day 30
There’s been some good, and some bad.
The bad was really this past weekend. I went to Utah for the Sundance Film Festival, and aside from walking a lot and a few air squats, I did not get much exercise. Add in the fact that I was getting over a cold, and I didn’t really eat much the entire weekend, and it was a recipe for bad health. I had my first “cheat day” under the...
Updates
Okay everyone, time for your updates - good, bad, or neutral. This is how we keep each other honest and (hopefully) motivate each other to keep going.

A bit of Wednesday inspiration for everyone.
A quarter of the way through
Looks like most of you are sticking to the routine so far. Just wanted to post a note of encouragement, support, and to say that we’re already looking towards a special little treat for Season 4.
You’re gonna wanna stick around, we’re definitely gonna make it worth your while.
For all of you reading this who are interested in participating - don’t worry about jumping in...
Cross posted from I Get Wet.
After a few months of working with kettlebells, I think I finally got the kettlebell snatch down. It aint perfect, but the fact I can snatch without fear of dropping the bell is an achievement unlocked.
PS: That’s my 16kg bell.
PPS: Excuse the shoddy camera work.
Weight and new strategy
Barrett’s fragile little ego: 1
Stronglifts: 1
So I lasted almost two weeks (ish) before modifying the Stronglifts program I’m using. If you recall, the program insists you start with the bar (ugh) and add 5Lbs each session, alternating between two sessions of different lifts. I decided that instead of alternating lifts every other session, I’m just doing all of them each...
Nicholas: Week 1
Major workout days: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday (today).
Well, since my last update, I’m back at college, which means back with a full gym. Lifting on Sunday was tough, challenging, but ultimately rewarding. I’m sore from not lifting in a while, but it feels good to be back on the horse.
In terms of diet, I think I might be eating a bit more sugar lately,...

Week 1 update
Successful workouts: 4 - Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sat.
Each of them was a weightlifting session, though I admit that since Wed and Fri were Stronglifts routines, there wasn’t a whole lot of effort required. I honestly can’t wait until I’m back up to my normal weight so I can feel accomplished when I leave the gym again.
Speaking of weight, 164 measured digitally at the gym.
Today...
Workout strategy for 2011
Lift Really Heavy Object
Put It Down
Repeat
Do It Again A Day Or Two Later
The rest sort of works itself out from there.
There's something incredibly ego-destroying about...
Damn you Stronglifts. Damn you.

Paolo - S3E05: Warrior Pose
I was amazed today at how much my shoulders ached from yoga at Yoga to the People in Berkeley last night. I know yoga is a great workout and all, but still. Jeez. I am not complaining in the least. In fact, I’m thinking I might go to Yoga twice a week (Tuesdays/Thursdays) from here on out.
Today I went a little easy, lighter circuit training. 45 seconds of burpees, push-ups, sqauts. 3...

Season 3, Day 4
So Season three got off to a banner start when I pulled my lower back doing…something, I don’t know for sure. Regardless, heavy lifting is out of the question for a week or two, so what am I doing? Well, I’m using it as a way to overcome my fragile little ego and start Stronglifts.
Wait, you thought I was giving up? I’m not even going to miss a gym session.
See, one of...
Paolo: S03E04 - Go Grab My Belt
Season Three has kicked off for me with a (sober) New Year’s Eve, a daylong (sanctioned binge) on New Year’s Day, a ‘kettlebell’ made out of plumbing materials, and chicken. Lots of chicken.
I got a week-long preseason head start on everybody last week.
Let’s just say that I’m starting off at 180 (up twenty pounds from August, womp womp) for the purposes of...
Day 3, Season 3, Nicholas
Three days in, and I think this is going to be a good one.
I’m really glad we’re doing this again. My mom does not cook heavily fatty foods or anythings, but I’ve been indulging in her sweets and other great winter cooking, and I know that hasn’t done wonders for my body.
So, what are my goals this season? They are pretty similar to past seasons: put on muscle, cut body...
